According to authorities, a 2009 Hyundai Genesis was traveling north on Route 41 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Sierra. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 27-year-old Uniqua Alece Wykia Carter from Chatham, Va, was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was rushed to SOVAH Health Danville but tragically succumbed to her injuries. An 11-year-old female juvenile who was a passenger in the Hyundai was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
On the other hand, the 32-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet and a 2-year-old female juvenile were properly secured in safety equipment at the time of the accident. They too sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical attention.
