Investigation Underway After Fatal Crash in Pittsylvania County, Virginia

Virginia State Police (VSP) are currently investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash that took place in Pittsylvania County on Wednesday. The incident occurred just past 5:30 p.m. on Route 41, south of Route 1133.

According to VSP reports, a 2009 Hyundai Genesis traveling north on Route 41 lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Sierra. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 27-year-old Uniqua Alece Wykia Carter of Chatham, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was later pronounced dead at SOVAH Health Danville. An 11-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Hyundai was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

The 32-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet and a 2-year-old girl, who were properly secured in safety equipment, were also taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

The VSP has stated that the crash investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
