Death – Obituary- Cause of Death News : Wellsboro, PA – The community of Wellsboro is reeling from the tragic news of the passing of beloved resident, Makena Doane, after a long and courageous battle with postpartum depression. Makena, 29, was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Makena was born and raised in Wellsboro, where she attended Wellsboro High School and later went on to earn her degree in nursing from a local college. She was known for her compassionate nature and her dedication to helping others, which led her to a career as a nurse at the local hospital.

Makena met the love of her life, Mark, in college, and the two were married shortly after graduation. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lily, just a year ago. Makena was overjoyed to become a mother and poured all of her love and energy into caring for her precious daughter.

Despite her outward happiness, Makena struggled silently with postpartum depression after Lily’s birth. She tried to hide her pain from those around her, but the weight of her illness became too much to bear. Tragically, Makena lost her battle with postpartum depression and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Makena’s death has left the community of Wellsboro heartbroken. She was known for her infectious smile, her kind heart, and her unwavering dedication to her family. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

In addition to her husband, Mark, and daughter, Lily, Makena is survived by her parents, Sarah and David, and her siblings, Michael and Jenna. She also leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends who will miss her dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate Makena’s life will be held at the Wellsboro Community Center on Saturday, May 15th, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Makena’s honor.

Makena Doane was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and love will never be forgotten, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to have known her. May she rest in peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
