Two Topeka Residents Arrested After Car Stop on Interstate 70

In a recent incident on Interstate 70 in Wabaunsee County, two Topeka residents found themselves in hot water after a routine traffic stop. The incident occurred near the Alma exit, where a Wabaunsee County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a Buick with expired tags.

Arrest of Pierce Vogler

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Pierce Vogler, 36, of Topeka, was arrested and taken into custody without incident. Vogler was found to be driving with a suspended license, leading to his arrest. He was promptly transported to the Wabaunsee County Jail in Alma, where he was held pending bond in connection with driving while suspended, second occurrence.

Detainment and Arrest of Ashley Goforth

Accompanying Vogler in the vehicle was passenger Ashley Goforth, 39, also from Topeka. Goforth was briefly detained and released after authorities confirmed an active, non-extraditable warrant out of Topeka. However, a subsequent search of her property in the vehicle revealed what was suspected to be 10 grams of methamphetamine and associated narcotics paraphernalia.

Goforth was then formally arrested and taken into custody without incident. She too was transported to the Wabaunsee County Jail in Alma, where she was held pending bond in connection with various drug-related charges, including the distribution and possession of methamphetamine, as well as unlawful possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Current Status of Vogler and Goforth

As of Tuesday morning, both Vogler and Goforth remained in custody at the Wabaunsee County Jail. Vogler awaiting bond for his driving-related charge, while Goforth awaited bond for her drug-related charges.
