Community Mourning Loss of Bristol High School Student
In a devastating turn of events, the Bristol High School community is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Daniel Southall, a West Farmington resident who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, also left three other students seriously injured and has sent shockwaves through the close-knit community.

Counselling Services Offered to Support Grieving Community
Following the tragic accident, Bristol High School has announced that it will be offering counselling services to students and members of the community who may be struggling to come to terms with the loss. Superintendent Christopher Dray has extended an open invitation for anyone in need of support to visit the high school between 9 a.m. and noon on Thursday.
Details of the Crash
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the crash took place on Ensign Road, west of Girdle Road, when a 2005 black Honda Accord carrying four minors failed to negotiate a curve, veered off the road, and collided with a tree before catching fire. The driver, a 17-year-old, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment. Southall, who was sitting in the front seat, was among the three other passengers who were taken to University Hospital Geauga Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation Underway
Lt. Daniel Morrison of the Ohio State Highway Patrol revealed that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. While suspicions of alcohol involvement have arisen based on statements from two of the vehicle’s occupants, further details about the events leading up to the crash are yet to be determined. With the driver being the only occupant wearing a seat belt, questions remain about the circumstances that led to the tragic accident.
