A single-vehicle crash in Scott County has left one person dead and another injured. The incident occurred on Monday at around 2:39 p.m. near the 12500 block of New Liberty Road. The driver of the vehicle, a 64-year-old man from New Liberty, Iowa, survived the crash, but the passenger, a 77-year-old woman also from New Liberty, tragically succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.

Details of the Crash
According to a media release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the gray 2010 Nissan Altima was traveling west on New Liberty Road when it veered off the road, struck an embankment, and went airborne. The vehicle then landed in a cornfield on the north side of the road before coming to rest in the north ditch. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
