Surveillance Footage Reveals Details
Surveillance footage from inside an illegal gambling room captured the events leading up to the shooting. The video showed four men rounding up people at gunpoint in the parking lot and forcing them inside the building. As officers arrived at the scene, three of the men fled out the back of the gambling room and split up to escape.

One of the suspects, identified as 34-year-old Timothy Jefferson, encountered Senior Cpl. Ruben Martinez, who was working undercover nearby. Jefferson, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, engaged in a brief standoff with Martinez before dropping his weapon. Despite Martinez’s attempts to detain him, Jefferson made a sudden movement towards his gun, prompting Martinez to fire four shots.
