The incident took place on Friday, June 28, 2024, when Valdosta Police Officers pulled over a vehicle for reckless driving. The driver, later identified as Darrell Rochester, attempted to flee the scene, evading the officers at the time of the stop.

Subsequently, on July 2, 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Rochester for reckless driving and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.
