Authorities in Lincoln have identified the 25-year-old man who tragically lost his life in a shooting near a business parking lot on Friday. The victim, Francisco Javier Alvis, was found near South Folsom and West A streets with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Alvis succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family and community in shock.

The incident unfolded late on Friday night when police received reports of gunshots and vehicles hastily leaving the area of South Coddington Avenue and West A Street. Upon investigation, it was revealed that Alvis had met with the suspect, 20-year-old Ge’Auvieon Crayton, in the parking lot. The two were seen inside Alvis’ pickup truck before the fatal shooting occurred.
A Tragic Turn of Events
According to police reports, Alvis had arranged to meet Crayton to deliver marijuana. As the situation escalated, Alvis attempted to flee the vehicle and seek refuge in a maroon Jeep that had arrived at the scene. Tragically, he was unable to escape unscathed and was found by witnesses near the parking lot.
Discoveries at the Scene
Investigators found a fully loaded 9 mm handgun in Alvis’ possession, with no live round in the chamber. Further examination revealed a bullet hole in the driver’s door of Alvis’ truck, indicating that the shot was fired from inside the vehicle. Additional evidence, including a 9 mm handgun casing and a slug consistent with a 40-caliber handgun, was recovered at the scene.
Suspect Apprehended
Following intensive investigations, Crayton was identified as the suspect and was promptly arrested without incident on Saturday night. Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant, leading to the discovery of live rounds matching those found at the scene, as well as a handgun magazine. Crayton now faces charges of first-degree murder and the use of a firearm to commit a felony.
