Tragic Accident Claims the Lives of a Woman and Two Young Boys

A devastating two-vehicle crash on Highway 4 south of Cochin has left a community in mourning after a woman and two young boys lost their lives. The 48-year-old woman, who was driving the van, and the boys, aged five and six, tragically perished at the scene. Another woman, identified as the boys’ grandmother and primary caregiver, was rushed to hospital in serious condition. Acyan Blythe, the organizer of the fundraiser, emphasized the importance of coming together to support the family during this difficult time.

Details of the Fatal Crash

The collision between a truck and a van has left a lasting impact on the community, with the driver of the truck also sustaining serious injuries and being airlifted to hospital. Cochin, a small town located approximately 170 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon, was the site of this tragic incident. The RCMP are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine what led to this devastating outcome.

Second Fatal Crash in the Battleford Area

Tragically, this was not the only fatal crash to occur in the Battleford area on the same day. Just a few hours later, officers were called to another two-vehicle collision on Highway 4, seven kilometres south of Battleford. This time, a motorhome and SUV collided, resulting in the deaths of a 29-year-old woman and a six-month-old boy from Red Pheasant First Nation. The driver of the SUV and one passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while an adult male passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

STARS Helicopter Airlifts Injured Boy

In a desperate bid to save lives, the STARS helicopter was called in to airlift a young boy from the SUV with serious injuries. The boy’s condition remains critical, highlighting the urgency of the situation and the need for swift medical intervention. The RCMP are working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to the collision and determine what factors may have contributed to this tragic outcome.
