A mother and son were among three people tragically killed when a pickup truck crashed into a New York City park while they were celebrating the Fourth of July. The three individuals who lost their lives in the devastating crash have been identified as Lucille Pinkney, 59; her son Hernan Pinkney, 38; and Ana Morel, 43. Diamond Pinkney, a brother and son of the victims, tearfully shared memories of his brother Hernan, highlighting his competitive nature and their close bond as best friends. He recalled their playful antics and shared moments of joy, both at work and in their neighbourhood.

Haneefah Hasan, a niece of Lucille Pinkney and cousin of Hernan, fondly remembered Hernan as outgoing and with a great sense of humour. She emphasized the strong mother-son bond between Lucille and Hernan, stating that they were always together, bringing joy to their surroundings.

The Tragic Incident

The driver of the Ford F-150, Daniel Hyden, 44, has been arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated. Authorities reported that the pickup truck was speeding down a street before crashing into Corlears Hook Park on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Fire Department Assistant Chief Michael Meyers described the harrowing scene, with the pickup truck landing on top of four victims. Emergency responders worked swiftly to extricate the injured individuals before transporting them to hospitals for treatment.
