Tragic Motorcycle Collision Claims Two Lives in Kluang

In a devastating turn of events, a male secondary school student and a foreigner tragically lost their lives in a fatal motorcycle collision at KM78 along Jalan Johor Baru-Air Hitam in Kluang. The incident took place around 11.15pm on Friday, July 5, resulting in the untimely demise of two motorcyclists.

Victims identified

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh disclosed that one of the victims was identified as 16-year-old Luqman Afiq Amir. The other victim was believed to be a male Myanmar national in his 40s. The local youth, Luqman, tragically succumbed to severe head and body injuries at the scene of the accident, while the foreign victim passed away while receiving treatment at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Kluang Hospital.

Details of the Incident

Initial investigations revealed that Luqman was riding a motorcycle belonging to his adopted father, travelling from Machap towards Simpang Renggam. Unfortunately, he lost control of the vehicle, veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the foreigner, who was riding another motorcycle at the time of the tragic accident.

Legal Ramifications

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh highlighted that Luqman did not possess a valid driving license, raising concerns about underage driving and the importance of adhering to road safety regulations. Additionally, no identification documents were found on the foreign victim, complicating the identification process and legal proceedings following the incident.

Call for Road Safety

In the wake of this heart-wrenching tragedy, ACP Bahrin urged all road users to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to road rules for their safety and the safety of others. The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, emphasising the gravity of the consequences of negligent or reckless driving.
