Tragic Accident Claims Life of 79-Year-Old Woman in Reeves County
A devastating accident on Interstate 20 near mile marker 47 in Reeves County has left the community in mourning. Mary Susan Gano, a 79-year-old woman from Riesel, TX, tragically lost her life in a collision with another vehicle on Monday afternoon.

Details of the Accident
The incident involved a 2019 Kenworth T3 tractor-truck, driven by 60-year-old Robert Raymond Lalum from Midland, and a 2023 Jeep Compass SUV operated by Gano. Lalum’s vehicle was stationary in the left eastbound lane when Gano, traveling in the right lane, attempted to change lanes and struck the rear end of Lalum’s truck.
Gano was rushed to Reeves Regional Hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. Lalum, on the other hand, miraculously escaped the accident without any injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
