In a devastating turn of events, two young children, Kathleen Pardillo, 12, and her 9-year-old brother, Yuhan, tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Sitio Nangka, Sinsin, a mountain barangay in Cebu City. The siblings, along with their parents, were on their way back home from attending a wake in Talisay City when the accident occurred.
Family Devastated by Loss
The Pardillo family, consisting of parents Cherry Fe and Herman Pardillo, along with their three children, were returning from the wake of Herman’s cousin when tragedy struck. The family, originally from Barangay Bonbon and Talisay City, had been warned against bringing their children along due to safety concerns, but decided to disregard the advice.
Overloading and Braking Failure
According to Captain Joel dela Cerna of Malubog Police Community Precinct, overloading was a contributing factor to the accident. The motorcycle driven by Herman Pardillo lost its brakes while descending, causing it to hit a gutter. The impact was so severe that Kathleen lost her life instantly, while Yuhan succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Mother in Critical Condition
Cherry Fe, the 34-year-old mother of the children, sustained severe injuries in the accident and was transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for further treatment. The family is now grappling with the loss of their two young children while praying for Cherry Fe’s recovery.
