Tragic Accident Claims Life of 33-Year-Old Man in Tawau
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 33-year-old man, identified as Tsen Yeak Yang, lost his life in a fatal head-on collision in Taman Gaya, Jalan Kuhara in Tawau on Friday morning. The incident, which occurred at 2.01am, involved Tsen’s car and another vehicle, resulting in a tragic loss of life.
Efforts to Save the Victim
Upon receiving the alert, a team of nine firemen from the Tawau fire station rushed to the scene within minutes. They found Tsen pinned inside his car and worked tirelessly to extricate him using special tools. Despite their best efforts, Tsen was pronounced dead by health officials at the scene. The body was then handed over to the police for further investigation.
Details of the Collision
Initial investigations by Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin revealed that Tsen was on his way to Fujimart from Taman May Flower when the collision occurred. The other vehicle involved was driven by a 19-year-old who was travelling from Taman Semarak towards Tawau town. The impact caused Tsen’s car to veer 155m to the left shoulder of the road, while the teenager’s car spun, hit a pole, and skidded 105m into the opposite lane. Miraculously, the teenager escaped unhurt.
Tragedy Strikes in Papar
In a separate incident in Papar, a two-year-old toddler found himself trapped in a car, prompting a swift response from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department. A team of four firefighters arrived at the scene on Lorong 3, Taman Takis, within minutes of receiving the distress call. Using specialized tools, they managed to free the toddler within minutes, bringing the operation to a successful conclusion at 11.39am.
