Tributes have been pouring in for Officer Ritter from government leaders, first responders, and members of the community. Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb expressed his heartbreak at the loss of the dedicated public servant, promising full support for the investigation and justice for the perpetrator. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine offered his condolences, highlighting Ritter’s service not only to Cleveland but also as a member of the Ohio National Guard.

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, Representative Shontel Brown, Representative Max Miller, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Cleveland City Council President Blaine Griffin, Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne, and Cuyahoga County Sheriff Harold Pretel all shared their condolences and support for Officer Ritter’s family and colleagues. The Cleveland Cavaliers also expressed their condolences for Officer Ritter, joining the community in mourning his loss. Police departments from Akron, Perry Township, Lakewood, Chagrin Valley, and Elyria all sent their heartfelt condolences to the Cleveland Division of Police and Officer Ritter’s family.

Officer Jamieson Ritter was named Officer of the Month by the Cleveland Police Foundation in May for his heroic actions in the line of duty.
