A dramatic incident unfolded in Laurel, Del as a Preston man led police on a high-speed chase through the town, resulting in his arrest on multiple drug charges. The events took place on June 27th, around 12:45 pm, when a Laurel Police Department officer attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a silver Toyota Camry in the area of Poplar Street and Locust Street in Laurel.
High-Speed Pursuit through Residential Neighborhood

The vehicle sustained significant damage, and the driver had already fled the scene. Fortunately, no bystanders were involved in the collision. Upon searching the vehicle, the officer uncovered a substantial amount of heroin, oxycodone pills, and marijuana, all packaged for sale. Furthermore, it was revealed that the vehicle was unregistered and lacked proof of insurance.
Identification and Charges
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 36-year-old Dione L Garner of Preston, MD. As a result of the incident, multiple charges were brought against Garner, including possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, aggravated possession with intent to deliver oxycodone, possession of oxycodone, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, subsequent offense of disregarding a police officer signal, possession of marijuana for other than personal use, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of a property collision accident, driving without a valid license, along with several additional traffic violations.
