Victim identified in Millgrove Shooting
Hamilton Police have identified the victim of a tragic shooting incident that occurred over the long weekend in Millgrove. The victim has been named as 45-year-old Tobenna Obiaga from Halton Region, making him Hamilton’s fifth homicide victim of the year.
Details of the Shooting
The shooting took place in the early hours of Sunday morning on Highway 6 near 6th Concession E. Police responded to reports of a shooting at a large house party being held in a short-term rental property. A fight broke out at the party, which eventually spilled out onto the highway.
Shots were fired at two vehicles, one parked on the shoulder of the highway and another that had stopped at a nearby gas station. Tobenna Obiaga was found in the parked vehicle with gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital. Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Injuries and Witnesses
Two individuals in the vehicle at the gas station sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and have since been discharged from hospital. Another person at the house party suffered minor injuries that were not related to firearms and has also been released from medical care.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a dark grey sedan fleeing after the shooting, but no further suspect descriptions have been provided. Police are still guarding the property and several vehicles left at the scene pending the issuance of search warrants.
