In a tragic turn of events, a woman was fatally shot in the French Quarter of New Orleans early Sunday morning. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Kristie Thibodeaux, was sitting inside a vehicle on St. Peter Street when she was shot and killed. The New Orleans Police Department pronounced her dead at the scene.

**Arrests Made in Connection to Homicide**

Police have arrested three individuals in connection to Thibodeaux’s homicide. The suspects, Jerben Albarec, 17, Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio, 19, and a 15-year-old juvenile male, have been booked with second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. It was determined that the shooting took place during an attempted robbery.

According to court documents, the suspects were driving around in a black Chevy Camaro, looking to commit robberies. Prior to the fatal shooting, they had already robbed three men at gunpoint. Bonifacio allegedly confessed to detectives that the 15-year-old was the one who fired the shot that killed Thibodeaux.

Surveillance video of the incident showed the juvenile approaching Thibodeaux’s vehicle with a hoodie and mask on. He pointed his gun at her and fired a single shot, resulting in her death. The suspects then fled the scene in the Camaro.

**Arrests and Charges**

The Camaro was later found outside Bonifacio’s residence, where both he and Albarec were arrested. They are currently being held on $1.1 million bonds for second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.

Thibodeaux’s killing marks the second fatal shooting in the French Quarter within a span of eight days. Florida tourist Christpoher Oatts Jr. was fatally shot on Bourbon Street on June 22, and two women were arrested for his murder in Mississippi. Additionally, a bouncer at Tropical Isle reportedly shot two men in the abdomen after asking them to leave during closing time.

According to the Metropolitan Crime Commission, 11 out of the 16 violent incidents in the area last week occurred on Saturday and Sunday.
