Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Former Pastor and Family in Wisconsin Vacation Rental
A devastating fire at a vacation rental in Wisconsin has left a community in mourning after claiming the lives of six people, including a former pastor and two of his children. The incident occurred in Necedah, a town located about 70 miles northwest of Madison, in the early hours of Sunday.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Authorities were alerted to the blaze at W5040 Morros Mile Road at around 2:35 a.m. Deputies and firefighters rushed to the scene, only to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Tragically, six individuals – three adults and three juveniles – were trapped inside the burning building.
Despite the valiant efforts of the Fire Department, who battled the flames for over three hours, all six family members perished in the fire. Among the victims was 66-year-old Steve Witte, a former pastor at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Green Bay, who was staying at the vacation rental with his family for a reunion.

The heartbreaking loss also included Lydia Witte and Charis Kuehl, daughters of Steve Witte, along with granddaughters Stella Kuehl, Lena Henselin, and Merci Henselin. The tragedy has left a deep void in the lives of their surviving family members, including Hanna Henslin.
