The Tragic Death of Esther Arunong

Three months after her untimely death, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially ruled the manner of death of a 28-year-old Kent woman, Esther Arunong, as a homicide. Esther was allegedly subjected to daily abuse by her own mother, leading to her tragic demise.

The Events Leading to Esther’s Death

Esther Arunong passed away on April 29 at Valley Medical Center in Renton, just one day after her sister made a desperate call to 911 for an ambulance. The sister reported that their mother had recently struck Esther, prompting the call for medical assistance.

A day earlier, on April 28, Kent Police Department officers and firefighters responded to a distress call at the family’s apartment on W. Smith Street. They found Esther lying on the living room floor, covered in bruises and lacerations.

A Mother’s Shocking Admission

During questioning by Kent officers, Esther’s mother, Sepe Harrison George, shockingly admitted, “To be honest, I beat her up last week.” George was subsequently arrested on assault charges.

King County prosecutors wasted no time in filing two felony counts of domestic violence assault in the second degree against George on May 1. However, the cause of Esther’s death remained unknown at that time.
