The Arrest of the Prime Accused
The Narayanganj district police have successfully apprehended the prime accused in the heartbreaking case of the murder of nine-year-old Tamim Iqbal. Additional Superintendent of Police (SP, Crime and Operations) Chailau Marma made the announcement during a press conference held at the District Police Superintendent’s office on Monday (July 1). The arrested individual has been identified as Munna.

The Tragic Disappearance of Tamim
The harrowing events unfolded on June 29 when young Tamim, the son of Taib Ali, left his home to play at a nearby ground. As the evening descended, Tamim failed to return home, causing distress among his family members. The following morning, locals made a gruesome discovery when they found Tamim’s lifeless body in room number four on the second floor of an abandoned two-storied building near the SRB brick kiln, close to Golakandail intersection under the jurisdiction of Rupganj police station.
The Discovery and Investigation
Upon receiving the distressing news, the police from Bhulta outpost rushed to the scene and promptly transferred Tamim’s body to the Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital morgue for further examination. Through meticulous investigation and the review of footage from various CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the incident, the authorities were able to identify and apprehend Munna, who has been charged under juvenile crime.
The Shocking Confession
During initial questioning, Munna confessed to the heinous crime, revealing chilling details of the events that transpired. According to the police report, Munna lured Tamim to the abandoned building under the guise of playing football, only to satisfy his perverse sexual desires. Tamim was then subjected to a horrific assault, leaving the young boy traumatised and vulnerable. When Tamim threatened to inform his parents about the ordeal, Munna resorted to violence, strangling the innocent child to conceal his monstrous act.
