Caught on Camera: Motorcycle Thief Strikes in Bacolod City

A shocking incident unfolded in Hilado Street, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City when a man was caught on camera stealing a motorcycle loaded with 75 parcels. The thief, already wearing a crash helmet, swiftly approached the parked motorcycle, mounted it, revved the engine, and sped away in broad daylight. The brazen theft was witnessed by a passerby who attempted to chase after the thief, but to no avail.

Owner’s Heartbreak: Alegre’s Painful Loss

The owner of the stolen motorcycle, John Paul Alegre, a 30-year-old delivery rider, was left devastated by the incident. Alegre, who had diligently saved up to purchase the motorcycle, had left the key in the ignition slot, making it an easy target for the thief. Along with the motorcycle, the thief also made off with 75 parcels valued at around P25,000 and over P5,000 in cash from the U-Box compartment.

Expressing his anguish, Alegre stated, “That motorcycle was my dream. I bought it with my hard-earned money, and I had been saving up for it for a long time.”

Police Investigation: Persons of Interest identified

Police authorities swiftly launched an investigation into the theft, identifying three persons of interest. Captain Francis Depasucat, chief of Police Station 4, revealed that they were monitoring individuals with prior records in connection to similar crimes. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for the brazen theft.

Delivery Riders Demand Increased Security

In the wake of the incident, delivery riders in the area have called for enhanced security measures at parking spaces to prevent such thefts in the future. Expressing concern over the safety of their vehicles and parcels, riders emphasized the need for stricter protocols and heightened vigilance to safeguard against theft incidents.
