Female CID Officer Arrested for Aiding Smuggler in Liquor Trafficking
A recent incident in Gujarat’s Kutch has brought disrepute to the local police force. A female Crime Investigation Department (CID) Police officer, Neeta Chaudhary, was caught aiding a smuggler in an attempt to traffic liquor. The incident unfolded in the Bhachau police station area, where the smuggler, identified as Yuvraj Singh, also tried to run over police officers to evade capture.

Details of the Incident
On a Sunday night, police were conducting routine vehicle inspections near Chopdwa Bridge in the Bhachau Police Station area of Kutch to curb liquor smuggling. A white Thar ignored the police’s signal to stop and attempted to run them over. Another police convoy gave chase and successfully intercepted the vehicle at a roadblock. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 16 bottles of liquor and two cans of beer. Both Neeta Chaudhary and Yuvraj Singh were promptly arrested, and legal proceedings were initiated.
Police Response
SP East Kutch, Sagar Bagmar, revealed in a media conversation that the Bhachau Police and Local Crime Branch (LCB) had set up a surveillance operation based on received information. The discovery of beer tins in the vehicle led to a prohibition case against the duo, with additional offences registered under sections 307 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code. Yuvraj Singh, a habitual criminal with 16 prior cases, is wanted in 6 cases, including charges of attempted murder.
