Death – Obituary- Cause of Death News : John Garland Smith, affectionately known as ‘Big John’, passed away at the age of 49 in Casper, Wyoming. His sudden departure has left his friends, family, and community in shock and mourning.
John was born on June 15, 1972, in Casper, Wyoming, where he lived his entire life. He was a proud graduate of Natrona County High School and went on to work as a machinist at a local manufacturing company for over 20 years. John was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to help others whenever needed.
Aside from his dedication to his job, John was also a devoted husband and father. He met his wife, Sarah, in college and they were married for 25 years. Together, they raised two children, Jake and Emily, who were the center of John’s world. He was a loving and supportive father, always present at his children’s sporting events, school activities, and milestones. John’s family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In his free time, John enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending weekends in the mountains, surrounded by nature and wildlife. John had a passion for the outdoors that he passed down to his children, creating lasting memories that they will always hold dear.
John was also a loyal friend, always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. He had a larger-than-life personality and a contagious smile that could light up a room. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, August 21st, at the Casper Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Natrona County Humane Society, a cause that was near and dear to John’s heart.
