Arrest and Seizure of Firearms
On Wednesday, June 26, Garcia was followed to the 7700 block of Penway Heights near Constitution Avenue and Marksheffel Road. Upon approaching Garcia and a 17-year-old boy walking to Garcia’s vehicle, officers attempted to make contact. Garcia then attempted to evade police in his vehicle, resulting in a collision with a parked car. Both Garcia and the teen tried to flee but were promptly apprehended.

During the arrest, the teen was found in possession of a “Glock switch,” an aftermarket device that can convert a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon. A subsequent search warrant was executed at Garcia’s apartment, where officers discovered an AR-style rifle and a 50-round drum-style handgun magazine.

Following the arrest, Garcia is facing charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Providing a Handgun to a Juvenile, Possessing a Dangerous Weapon, and other firearm-related offenses.
