Convicted Sex Offender Conceals Dead Body in Toronto Apartment

Authorities in Toronto have revealed a disturbing case involving a convicted sex offender who befriended a vulnerable individual and concealed their dead body in a Riverside apartment. Rejean Hermel Perron, 52, is the suspect in this heinous act, which came to light when police discovered the deceased person in an apartment located at Broadview Avenue and Dundas Street East on May 27.

Identity of the Deceased

Although the deceased person has not been identified by the police, an autopsy showed that they died of natural causes. However, Superintendent Kim O’Toole of 55 Division stated that deliberate steps were taken to keep the body hidden. This tragic incident has raised concerns about Perron’s exploitation of vulnerable individuals, particularly women and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Discovery and Investigation

The discovery of the deceased individual came after a community support worker, who had been assisting them before their death, alerted the authorities when the person missed an appointment. Upon investigating the apartment unit, police forensically linked Perron to the scene and observed him using the deceased’s key fob to enter the premises. Prior to this incident, Perron had developed a close relationship with the deceased, with the two often seen together.

Previous Conviction

In 2015, Perron was charged and later convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a sex trade worker. The victim was held against her will in an east-end home for five days before managing to escape. Authorities noted that there were elements of ritualistic actions involved in the crime, although specifics were not disclosed. Perron is still wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching the conditions of his parole related to this conviction in 2021.

Current Whereabouts

O’Toole stated that Perron had been out of sight for several years until this disturbing incident occurred. Investigators believe that Perron is still in the Toronto area, particularly frequenting the downtown east side. Additionally, he has been known to spend time in Kingston and Chatham-Kent, Ontario. Described as five-foot-two with dark hair, blue eyes, a thin build, and a possibly pock-marked face, Perron may also be using aliases such as Daniel Joseph Christie, Kristy, or Krysty.

Law enforcement agencies are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding Perron’s whereabouts. O’Toole emphasized the importance of community involvement, especially from those who work with vulnerable populations. Perron’s release from Bath Institution in 2021 has left him without any official identification or bank accounts, making it challenging for authorities to track him down.

It is believed that Perron is preying on vulnerable individuals to sustain himself while evading capture on the Canada-wide warrant. The urgent need to locate Perron highlights the ongoing threat he poses to society, particularly to those who may be targeted due to their vulnerability.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about Perron’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately. The safety of the community, especially vulnerable individuals, is paramount in apprehending Perron and preventing further harm.
