Death – Obituary- Cause of Death News : Jeanette Cecilia Heins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison, Iowa, at the age of 85. Jeanette was born on September 12, 1939, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to the late John and Mary (Jones) Smith.

Jeanette was a devoted member of the community, known for her kind heart and gentle spirit. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she found great comfort and solace in her faith. Jeanette was a dedicated volunteer at the local food pantry and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

In addition to her charitable work, Jeanette was a talented artist and enjoyed painting in her free time. Her family and friends cherished the beautiful paintings she created, each one a reflection of her creativity and passion for art. Jeanette’s artistic talents brought joy to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Jeanette is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William Heins; her children, Sarah (David) Johnson and Mark (Linda) Heins; her grandchildren, Emily, Michael, and Olivia; her sister, Margaret (Robert) Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Smith, and her sister, Elizabeth (James) Wilson.

A funeral service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 am, with Father Thomas O’Connor officiating. Visitation will take place at Barr Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a rosary service at 6:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fort Madison Food Pantry in Jeanette’s honor. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Birkwood Village for their compassionate care and support during Jeanette’s final days.
