Bill Cobbs was a beloved husband, father, and friend to many. His infectious smile and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew him. Born on June 15, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, Bill grew up with a passion for music and education. He attended the University of Illinois, where he earned a degree in music education.
After graduating, Bill began his career as a music teacher in a local high school, where he inspired countless students to pursue their passion for music. His dedication to his students went beyond the classroom, as he spent countless hours mentoring and guiding them towards success.
In addition to his career in education, Bill was also an accomplished musician. He played the saxophone in a local jazz band, where his talent and passion for music shone through. His performances were always a highlight of any event, and his love for music was contagious to all who listened.
Outside of his professional life, Bill was a devoted husband and father. He met his wife, Sarah, in college, and they shared a love that was evident to all who knew them. Together, they raised two children, Emily and Michael, who were the light of their lives. Bill’s family meant everything to him, and he always made sure to prioritize them above all else.
Bill will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his passion for music, and his love for his family. He touched the lives of so many people and leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Music Education Foundation in Bill’s honor. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21st, at the local church where Bill was a member. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of this remarkable man.
