Tragic Accident Claims the Life of a Man in Consolacion
A somber mood enveloped Barangay Cansaga in Consolacion town, northern Cebu, as news spread about a fatal accident that took the life of a man on Monday afternoon, June 24, 2024.

The victim, identified as Sherwin Sumanting, a 32-year-old resident of District 4 Brgy. Pulpogan, Consolacion, met his untimely demise when he was run over by a trailer truck along the National Road. Sumanting was the driver of the motorcycle, with his 16-year-old cousin as the back-rider.

According to reports from the Liloan police, the accident occurred as Sumanting and his cousin were heading home from the market. As Sumanting slowed down to make a left turn, the delivery trailer truck behind him failed to notice the motorcycle decelerating.
The truck driver, identified as Mark Vincent Lucero, 30, allegedly did not see Sumanting’s motorcycle in time and collided with the back part of the vehicle. The impact caused Sumanting to fall and be dragged under the truck, resulting in fatal injuries.
Tragically, the wheels of the truck crushed both Sumanting’s helmet and his head, leading to his instantaneous death. His cousin, however, was thrown to the side of the road after the collision, sustaining minor bruises on his legs.
