Tragic Incident in Dawson Creek Leaves One Dead
A fatal encounter between RCMP officers and a suspect in Dawson Creek has left the community in shock. The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is now appealing to witnesses to come forward and shed light on the events that led to the tragic death of the suspect.

Details of the Incident
The incident took place on June 20, when police responded to reports of several men with weapons at 8th Street and 104th Avenue. Three suspects were apprehended at the scene, while a fourth was arrested near a 7-Eleven store just a block away. However, it was during the arrest of this fourth suspect that things took a tragic turn.
The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained injuries during the arrest and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he tragically passed away on June 21. The circumstances surrounding his death are now under investigation by the IIO.
Appeal for Witnesses
The IIO is urging anyone who witnessed any part of the incident to come forward and provide their account of what transpired. In particular, they are keen to speak with five men who have been identified as potential witnesses.
One of the men is described as wearing glasses, an orange or yellow baseball hat, a red shirt, a dark leather jacket, and blue jeans. Another individual had shoulder-length hair, a moustache, and was dressed in a black baseball hat, a dark-coloured shirt, and dark-coloured pants or jeans. The other three men have also been described in detail, along with the vehicles they were driving at the time.
