In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young boy named Zayan Mayanja from Westford, Massachusetts, was found dead after a frantic search on Sunday night. The six-year-old, who was non-verbal and Autistic, went missing from his home on Chestnut Road, sparking a massive search effort by the Westford Police Department.

After receiving reports of Zayan’s disappearance at around 9:12 p.m., Westford police officers, along with K-9 Units and neighboring law enforcement agencies, sprang into action. Various search techniques, including drones, a boat in Nabnasset Lake, and a RAVE alert to residents in the area, were deployed to locate the missing child. The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing also joined the search efforts.
Tragically, around 12:08 a.m. on Monday, Zayan was discovered in the water of Nabnasset Lake behind a residence on Lake Shore Drive South. Despite the immediate life-saving measures, including CPR, performed by emergency crews, Zayan was pronounced dead upon arrival at Lowell General Hospital.
