The Alleged Murder of Nico Christopher Patino
The tragic incident took place on May 26, when Patino was fatally shot during what police described as a coordinated effort involving multiple shooters both on foot and in a car. Patino was attending an after-party event at an industrial warehouse on Fortune Road when he was approached by individuals in a vehicle. Security camera footage captured the moment when Patino was shot by multiple assailants.
The Investigation and Arrests
Abdihakim Mohamed was identified as a suspect through a thorough investigation that included surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle at the scene and tracking of cell phone location data. Mohamed was pulled over while driving the suspect vehicle on June 18 and subsequently arrested. He initially denied involvement in the shooting but later requested legal representation.
Nay Blusoe’s arrest came after he had left the state and travelled to Detroit, Michigan following the shooting. He returned to Salt Lake City on Sunday, where he was taken into custody by SLCPD officers. The police department has stated that the investigation is ongoing and that additional arrests are possible as they continue to gather evidence and information.
