Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found a man who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts to save him, the victim tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office quickly sprang into action to locate the suspect responsible for this heinous crime.

Just before 1 a.m., deputies managed to track down the suspect’s vehicle in Beaumont with the help of an aviation unit. Both deputies and officers from the Beaumont Police Department attempted to stop the suspect, but he chose to flee, sparking a pursuit that led them into Hemet.

The chase finally came to an end at the intersection of Florida Avenue and Acacia Avenue in Hemet. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Ernesto Lopez Jr. from Moreno Valley, was apprehended and taken into custody on charges of murder and felony evading.
