Arkansas state police have confirmed that a tragic shooting incident at a grocery shop in Fordyce has left four civilians dead and several others injured. The shooting took place on Friday morning at the Mad Butcher grocery shop, located about 65 miles south of the state capital, Little Rock.

Victims identified
The victims of the shooting have been identified as Shirley Taylor, 62, Callie Weems, 23, Roy Sturgis, 50, and Ellen Shrum, 81. All four were civilians who tragically lost their lives during the shooting. The injured range in age between 20 and 65, with four individuals remaining in hospital, including a woman in critical condition.
Among those injured were Fordyce police officer James Johnson, 31, who has since been released from hospital, and Stuttgart police officer John Hudson, 24, whose injuries were reported to be minor.
Suspect in Custody
The suspect responsible for the shooting has been identified as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburg. Police have stated that Posey will be charged with four counts of capital murder. Following the incident, Posey was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement. He was then released into police custody and taken to the Ouachita County Detention Centre.
Eyewitness Accounts
Roderick Rogers, a member of the city council, recounted the chaotic scene that unfolded following the shooting. He mentioned that employees at his nearby restaurant alerted him to the incident, prompting him to contact the sheriff. Upon arriving at the scene, Rogers observed people fleeing in all directions, with some even running to the nearby hospital for safety.
