A Newport Man Arrested for Attempted Break-Ins
A Newport man, identified as Brandon Allen Lyons, was arrested by police after he attempted to enter multiple homes and vehicles in the area of Northwest 55th Street in Newport. The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 10.

Police Response to the Incident
Officers from the Newport Police Department responded to the area after receiving reports of a man trying to break into a residence. As they were on their way, another caller reported seeing the man in their backyard and attempting to enter their home through the back door. The suspect then fled on foot and tried to enter a third home in the area. Fortunately, the homeowner was able to deter him from entering.
Search and Arrest
A search operation was launched by Newport officers, along with personnel from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police. Despite the suspect fleeing into the woods near Northeast 57th Street, law enforcement officials were able to track him down.
Standoff and Surrender
After conducting follow-up interviews with homeowners, officers learned that Lyons was hiding in a vehicle on Northeast 57th Street. They located the vehicle with an open door and, after a brief standoff, Lyons surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
Charges and Jail Time
Lyons was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and lodged on multiple charges, including second-degree criminal trespass, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, attempting to commit unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and second-degree disorderly conduct. The incident remains under investigation.
