Tragic Shooting at Mad Butcher Grocery Shop in Fordyce
A devastating shooting took place at around 11.30am local time on Friday at the Mad Butcher grocery shop in Fordyce, located about 65 miles south of the state capital, Little Rock. The incident resulted in the tragic loss of four innocent civilians and left several others injured.
Victims identified
The victims of this senseless act of violence have been identified as Shirley Taylor, 62, Callie Weems, 23, Roy Sturgis, 50, and Ellen Shrum, 81. These individuals, who were simply going about their day when tragedy struck, have left behind grieving families and a shocked community.
Injured and Hospitalized
The injured individuals, ranging in age between 20 and 65, are currently receiving medical treatment. Four of them remain in hospital, with one woman in critical condition. Among the injured were Fordyce police officer James Johnson, 31, who has since been released from hospital, and Stuttgart police officer John Hudson, 24, whose injuries were fortunately minor.
Suspect Apprehended
The suspect responsible for this heinous act has been identified as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburg. Posey will be charged with four counts of capital murder. After exchanging gunfire with law enforcement, he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently taken into police custody.
