High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest of Burglary Suspect in Rowlett

A dramatic scene unfolded in Rowlett, Texas, as a burglary suspect led police on a high-speed chase that ended in an apartment complex on Sunset Blvd. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Andrew Blessed from Kaufman County, Texas, found himself in a tense standoff with law enforcement.

Chase and Standoff at Sunset Blvd Apartment Complex

The incident began when Rowlett PD officers were called to assist Kaufman County Constables with a burglary in progress. Blessed, driving a presumed stolen rental truck, led officers on a pursuit that ended at an apartment complex on Sunset Blvd. He made a daring move by driving the truck into the entry of the parking garage before fleeing to his girlfriend’s apartment.

Standoff with Law Enforcement

Upon reaching his girlfriend’s apartment, Blessed barricaded himself inside along with his girlfriend. Described as dangerous and willing to fight police, Blessed threatened and unlawfully restrained his girlfriend. With the situation escalating, Rockwall PD SWAT and Rowlett PD SWAT were called in for assistance.

Negotiation and Arrest

After hours of negotiation, law enforcement made the decision to breach the door and apprehend Blessed. The arrest was made without further incident, and Blessed was taken into custody. Thankfully, his girlfriend was found safe and unharmed during the operation.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Blessed now faces a slew of charges, including five felonies, one misdemeanor, and two felony bond revocation charges. Kaufman County Constables took custody of Blessed and transported him back to Kaufman County for further legal proceedings. Due to the damage caused during the standoff, Blessed’s girlfriend was provided with a courtesy night’s stay at a local hotel, courtesy of Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD).
