The man who was fatally shot by a Vancouver police officer near the waterfront on June 8 has been identified as 43-year-old Vadim Sashchenko. According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, investigators have determined that Sashchenko was in possession of a modified cap gun at the time of the incident.

The sheriff’s office explained that the cap gun is typically sold with an orange tip that can be removed, but the replica used by Sashchenko did not have this safety feature.
