In a shocking turn of events, the North Las Vegas Police Department has released body-worn camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that resulted in officers firing a staggering 92 shots at an armed suspect. The incident took place on June 15 at around 9 p.m. when officers responded to a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of Craig Road and North 5th Street.

**Identification of Suspect**

The suspect, later identified as Julian McCoy, a 57-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was driving a silver car northbound on North 5th Street when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with other vehicles on Craig Road. Witnesses at the scene reported that McCoy, a five-time registered felon in Nevada, threatened people, emergency personnel, and officers with a loaded gun following the crash.

Multiple callers informed the NLVPD dispatch that McCoy was believed to have caused the crash and was armed. One individual even stated that McCoy threatened him with a gun when he approached the suspect’s vehicle. When North Las Vegas firefighters arrived to assist at the scene, they too were threatened by McCoy, who was armed with a gun.

**Fatal Shooting**

Despite repeated attempts by officers to de-escalate the situation and commands for McCoy to drop the gun and exit the vehicle, he ignored the orders and raised his weapon towards the officers. In response, seven officers discharged their firearms, resulting in McCoy being shot multiple times and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. A total of 92 shots were fired at McCoy by the officers, with no information released on how many bullets actually struck him.

**Recovery of Weapon and Substances**

Following the shooting, officers recovered McCoy’s 22-caliber rifle, which was loaded with 15 bullets, along with alcohol and drug paraphernalia from his car. McCoy’s preliminary toxicology screening tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl, ethynol, and methamphetamine. Police records revealed McCoy’s extensive criminal history, including convictions for narcotic offenses, conspiracy to commit 1st-degree murder, theft, and kidnapping, as well as being a five-time registered felon in Nevada. McCoy also had a non-extraditable warrant for his arrest in Texas for assault.

**Officer Identification and Administrative Leave**

The seven officers involved in the shooting were identified as Officer Darren Rigsby, Officer Alexandre Chevalier, Officer Logan Guerin, Officer Christopher Dellorco, Officer Timothy Barnes, Officer Rodrigo Garcia, and Officer Robert Ryan. Per department policy, all officers were placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

**Charges Faced by McCoy**

Had McCoy survived the incident, he would have faced charges including assault with a deadly weapon on a protected person, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, DUI involving a collision, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm while under the influence.

**Aftermath of the Incident**

Following the officer-involved shooting, four individuals required treatment for minor injuries at the scene. Female passengers from one of the vehicles involved in the initial crash were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
