The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 16-year-old girl, Sarina Vootkur, and a 13-year-old girl, Elle Kim, were on the jet ski when they collided with a boat being operated by a 55-year-old man near the Gass Lake Channel. Witnesses stated that the jet ski was travelling at a high speed directly towards the boat, and the man was unable to avoid the collision.
Rescue Efforts and Unfortunate Outcome
Despite wearing life vests, both girls were knocked unconscious and thrown into the water upon impact. The four individuals on the boat acted swiftly, pulling the girls from the water, providing aid, and contacting emergency services. While one of the girls was brought back to shore by the boat operator, the other was assisted by a passing vessel.
