A woman was airlifted to a hospital after falling off the back of a motorcycle on a southeast Minnesota freeway. The incident took place in eastern Olmsted County around 12:15 on Wednesday afternoon. According to the State Patrol, the motorcycle involved was a three-wheel Can-Am.
The woman, identified as 56-year-old Angela Elizabeth Gierok from Whitehall, WI, fell off the motorcycle after the operator lost control of the vehicle while traveling west on Interstate 90, about a mile west of the Dover exit. Angela was flown by Mayo 1 to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the motorcycle, 58-year-old James E Gierok, was not injured in the incident.
Both Angela and James were wearing helmets at the time of the accident, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, as per the state crash report. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene to assist with the incident.
