Charges and Background

Chuol was initially charged by Alberta RCMP on February 13, 2023, in connection with the September 2021 homicide of 29-year-old Vanessa Silva. The charges against Chuol include first-degree murder, kidnapping, breaking and entering, as well as extortion. He was charged alongside Cordell Enrique Federico Kennedy, who is facing one count of first-degree murder in relation to Silva’s death.

The tragic incident unfolded on September 15, 2021, when Strathcona County RCMP and firefighters responded to a vehicle fire near Township Road 530 and Range Road 221. Following the extinguishing of the fire, human remains were discovered in the vehicle, later identified as those of Edmonton resident Vanessa Silva on September 17, 2021.

Arrest Warrant and Investigation

Following the discovery of the remains, an arrest warrant was issued for Chuol, who was known to have ties to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Manitoba. The investigation into Silva’s death has been ongoing since the incident, with law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.

Chuol’s inclusion on Metro Vancouver Crime Stopper’s most-wanted list further highlights the severity of the charges against him. Despite attempts to evade capture, he was ultimately apprehended in Calgary, bringing a sense of closure to the ongoing investigation.
