According to the State Patrol report, the car, traveling south, entered the highway and crashed into the westbound motorcycle. The motorcycle operator, 33-year-old Daniel Wayne Gulbranson from Fountain City, WI, was identified, with 22-year-old Olivia Lynn Hason of Winona riding pillion.

Gulbranson was rushed to a La Crosse hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while Hason was taken to a hospital in Winona with similar injuries. The driver of the car, 19-year-old Mya Mary Vonruden from Sparta, WI, escaped unhurt.

It was noted in the report that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but both individuals on the motorcycle were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision. The Winona Police Department, Winona Fire Department, and Winona Area Ambulance responded promptly to the scene to assist the injured parties.
