Two separate domestic-related shootings in Mississippi on Father’s Day have left one man dead and three others injured, sending shockwaves through the communities of Vicksburg and Adams County.

**Vicksburg Shooting**

In Vicksburg, the police responded to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Drummond Street in the early hours of Sunday morning. Upon arrival, officers discovered that an unidentified male had shot two unidentified females during a domestic dispute. Both females were rushed to a medical facility for treatment, and their current condition remains unknown. The male suspect was apprehended after a brief pursuit with law enforcement.

In a tragic turn of events in Adams County, a man lost his life in a separate domestic incident. Authorities received a distress call from a woman crying for help just after midnight. Deputies were dispatched to Carmel Church Road, where Randrell Jones informed them that his mother, Tawana Jones, and stepfather, Calvin Carter, were engaged in a violent altercation.

Randrell recounted how Carter, armed with a firearm, had entered the home uninvited and assaulted Tawana. After forcing Tawana out of the house, Carter and Tawana left in his vehicle, with Randrell following closely behind. Gunshots rang out as the vehicles travelled down Shieldsboro Road, resulting in Carter and Tawana being rushed to Merit Health Natchez for medical treatment. Tragically, Carter succumbed to his injuries, while Tawana was released from the hospital on Sunday.

**Investigation and Legal Proceedings**

Sheriff Travis Patten disclosed that Carter had arrived at the residence on Carmel Road, where his estranged spouse, Tawana, was staying for the night. He allegedly trespassed onto the property, forcibly took Tawana to his vehicle, and ultimately met with the fatal shooting. The sheriff’s office is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, with no arrests made as of yet.
