A devastating incident unfolded in the quiet neighbourhood of Mumbra, Thane, on Saturday night, resulting in the loss of a young life and leaving several others injured. The Regional Disasters Management Cell (RDMC) reported that a cement mixer truck crashed into a residential building’s compound wall, leading to a tragic chain of events.

Victim identified

The victim of this heart-wrenching accident was identified as Nasir Shaikh, a 14-year-old boy with a promising future ahead. His untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving his loved ones grappling with profound grief and loss. According to Yasin Tadvi, the Chief of the RDMC, the fatal crash occurred in the Samrat Nagar area at around 8 pm. The cement mixer truck, travelling from the Mumbra bypass, veered out of control, resulting in a catastrophic collision with the compound wall of Prathamesh Society. The impact was so severe that it caused the wall to split in half, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Upon receiving news of the accident, emergency response teams sprang into action. Rescue vehicles and personnel rushed to the scene, where the injured were promptly transported to various hospitals for urgent medical care. The driver, Riyaz Khan, a 19-year-old resident of Mumbra, and the owner, Bhimarao Patil from Navi Mumbai, now face legal repercussions for their roles in the accident.
