The hunt is on for two shoplifting suspects who left a Cranston officer injured in their getaway. The incident took place at the lululemon store in Garden City Center on Sunday evening. The suspects, a man and a woman, brazenly stole a rack of clothing before making a run for it.

Confrontation at the Cranston-Providence Line
As the suspects tried to flee the scene in their car, a vigilant officer spotted them stopped at a red light near the Cranston-Providence line. The officer approached the vehicle and demanded the suspects to step out. However, the driver refused, and the woman urged him to drive off.
Officer Injured in the Escape
In a bid to escape, the male suspect accelerated the car, running over the officer’s foot in the process. The officer, in response, fired a single shot at the fleeing vehicle. Fortunately, the officer, identified as a female, was taken to Kent Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The suspects, who are still at large, abandoned their vehicle on Niantic Avenue. The vehicle, registered in Massachusetts, has been seized as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
