A 53-year-old Indianapolis man is now facing possible murder charges after the victim of a January battery case passed away, with the death being ruled a homicide by the Marion County Coroner. The victim’s identity will be disclosed once their family has been informed of the tragic news.

Details of the Incident

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a distressing report on Tuesday, January 23rd. They were called to an “area hospital” where they discovered an adult male with severe traumatic injuries. Following their initial investigation, officers were led to a residence in the 4900 block of Media Drive, near Cold Spring Road and Michigan Road.

Suspect in Custody

The alleged suspect, a 53-year-old man, was identified by police and taken into custody without any resistance after a SWAT response. The suspect was initially arrested for domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, but the situation escalated when the victim succumbed to their injuries on March 31st, prompting the ruling of a homicide.

Future Legal Proceedings

Although the victim’s death has been classified as a homicide, no formal charges have been filed against the suspect at the time of this article’s publication.
