Woman Injured After Dress Gets Entangled in Buffalo’s Horns

A 35-year-old woman named Madhumathi from Thiruvottriyur found herself in a terrifying situation when her dress got caught in the horns of a charging buffalo. This incident took place on a narrow lane of Grama Theru on a Sunday afternoon. As the buffalo rushed towards her, her clothing got snagged in the animal’s horns, causing her to be dragged along the street. In a shocking CCTV footage, it was captured that Madhumathi was physically lifted and placed on top of the animal, while other residents, including a couple of boys, ran in panic.

Rescue Efforts and Injuries

As Madhumathi cried out for help, brave neighbors rushed to her rescue and managed to free her from the clutches of the buffalo. She was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment, as the public chased the animal, causing it to damage vehicles parked on the roadside. Fortunately, with the collective efforts of the residents, the animal was eventually brought under control. However, Madhumathi sustained bruises all over her body and was undergoing treatment but was reported to be out of danger. Another individual also suffered a minor injury during the chaos.

Buffalo Captured and Safety Measures

Following the incident, the Greater Chennai Corporation Staff intervened and successfully captured the buffalo. The animal was then taken to the Greater Chennai Corporation’s shelter in Pulianthope under the supervision of City Health Officer M. Jagadeesan. In light of this unfortunate event, discussions arose about the licensing of cows throughout the city and the establishment of additional shelters in South Chennai, as previously announced by Mayor R. Priya during the Corporation Budget presentation earlier that year. However, due to the constraints posed by the Lok Sabha Elections, progress on these initiatives had been delayed.

In conclusion, it is imperative for local authorities to prioritize safety measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future. The well-being of residents, as well as the welfare of animals, must be safeguarded through effective regulations and prompt actions in addressing potential risks. Let us hope that lessons will be learned from this incident to ensure the safety and security of all individuals in the community..
