In response, Officer Riedel fired four shots as Sashchenko discarded the weapon. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, Sashchenko tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Fortunately, no police officers sustained any harm during the incident, and the German Shepherd was safely taken to the Humane Society.
